Late night flight return to California from Texas, looking down to the north view of the areas outside of Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas.   This view was created using artrage, artstudio and a spot of ps for the edge blur...on iPad...

I have been going back to an earlier painting/drawing app, adobe ideas, and have been experimenting with the interesting qualities of line and tone and color that the app offers.  This painting is a view looking upwards at a wall of building shapes and signs, possibly will be part of a graphic novel format...

Tomales Bay Oyster grilling

Up north off Highway One in Marin County, one of the spots for oysters: Tomales Bay Oysters.  Folks can purchase bags of oysters in various sizes, and join other oyster lovers with freshly opened or grilling on the charcoal grills.   This was my version of an oysters rockefeller with a mixture of spianch, onions, garlic, cheese and assorted herbs... Bring your own tools and wine and sit down and enjoy the view of the Bay and the taste of fresh oysters...this was drawn on the iPad with the sketchbook pro app...

Alameda Theatre

Timothy Pflueger designed this theater for the Nassar brothers and it opened in 1932 during the depression years.  The exterior caught my eye as the late afternoon sunlight bleached the softer columns and curves of the facade.  Restored in 2008, the building stands proud on Central Avenue and viewable from Park Street, and contains a wonderful set of interior spaces and details. 

Pumpkin patch south of Half Moon Bay

I noticed many more pumpkin patches on Highway One this year, and one painted glimpse south of Half Moon Bay was captured and can now be seen here...painted with sketchbook pro on the iPad...

Concord, California, sunny warm almost hot day, lunch time painting exercise, digitally rendered painting of a palm tree, created on the iPad device...primarily with the use of artrage app...

Napa Silverado view flipped and finished...

Added in some shadow touches and texture to the foreground and wrapped up the brushwork, flipped the image to place the building on the right side and then noticed the similarity to the Kauai waterfall painting from several weeks ago...

Wailoa Mission House painting

Had no idea at the time of my visit in Hanalei, but have later learned that this large roofed house was the 1837 home of the early Christian missionaries, Abner and Lucy Wilcox. Now a landmark, and restored in 1921 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, reflects the southern roots of its architect, the Reverend William Alexander of Kentucky.  Imagine that, southern roots of architecture design on the island of Kauai...

Chicago...a return to sketch the city on the digital pad device...

Back in the wonderful city of Chicago for a set of meetings and the Neocon event, and like last year, I have to take some time out to visit some of my favorite sites and create some painted views of the buildings.  The first scene is the pairing of the Wrigley building and the Tribune Tower, at the bend of the river.  These were drawn on the iPad with the sketchbook pro app.   More to come...
