Clear skies and light air traffic on the route from OAK to DEN, with a stop/layover in beautiful San Diego, palm trees at the edges of the landscape and hills, warm sun and happy faces...
Inside and outside of my creative life, I always find those valuable moments of time to draw and sketch the some of events, spaces and environments on my journeys... Sometimes I think about Robert Byron touring through regions of the Middle East in search of unique towers and monuments, and wonder about Bruce Chatwin venturing through the southern tip of South America and falling in love with Patagonia...Douglas Wittnebel...

Earth Day 2014
"...They took all the trees
Put 'em in a tree museum
And they charged all the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot..."

KUBB, the game from the weekend of camping on Mount Tamalpais
KUBB is an outdoor or lawn game where the primary object is to knock over wooden blocks by throwing or tossing wooden batons. Today's version originated in Sweden, and the rules vary from country to country and from region to region, but the ultimate object of the game is to knock over the five kubbs on the opposing side line, and then knock the "king" over, before the opponent does, the nickname of the game is "Viking Chess." Games can last from five minutes to well over an hour or two. The game can be played on a variety of surfaces such as grass, asphalt, concrete, sand, snow, or ice. Here are my sketches of the game in progress at the campground.
