Sometimes I think about Robert Byron touring through regions of the Middle East in search of unique towers and monuments, and wonder about Bruce Chatwin venturing through the southern tip of South America and falling in love with Patagonia...Douglas Wittnebel...

Street scene with windmill in Mendocino
...almost every house and building had a windmill, used to provide the power to pump water up into the redwood tank water towers for supply and pressure.
