It was a very hot summer day, the 4th of July, and the roof garden of the Tokyu Plaza department store building was a surprise to see, and I tried to imagine the scenes behind those tiered green walls...
Inside and outside of my creative life, I always find those valuable moments of time to draw and sketch the some of events, spaces and environments on my journeys... Sometimes I think about Robert Byron touring through regions of the Middle East in search of unique towers and monuments, and wonder about Bruce Chatwin venturing through the southern tip of South America and falling in love with Patagonia...Douglas Wittnebel...

A painted view of the sandy stretches of Ohki beach in Kochi on the south west end of the island of Shikoku...
Hundreds if not thousands of small red crabs live in the moist territory off of the beach and above the highway 321, skittering and scampering in flight to hide under the rocks and between the cracks in the ground... this view is from the dining room area of the Kaiyu Inn...
